Sam Ibrahim Shot in leg‎ at Merrylands – Brother of John Ibrahim

Sam Ibrahim the older brother of nightclub operator John Ibrahim was shot at Merrylands this evening, the fifth shooting in two days in western Sydney.

At around 7pm police cars and helicopters appeared at Price Street following reports of shots being fired.

Ibrahim was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg.

The shooting is the crescendo to several days of shootings and violence, including an attack on the home of a senior member of the Ibrahim-associated street gang, Notorious, and the trashing of a Mt Druitt tattoo parlour associated with the gang.

This fifth shooting comes just hours after acting assistant police commissioner Stuart Smith said they did not believe other shootings today in Lansvale and Fairfield West and yesterday night in South Wentworthville and Dean Park were related.

As police were still putting up boundary tape a group of cars arrived at the scene and several men with concerned looks climbed out.

After a few seconds the men rushed back into their vehicles and drove off in the opposite direction.

Hundreds of neighbours looked on as police closed off Price Street. When news rippled through the crowed that the incident was a shooting, watchers began to bring up the other shootings and said they did not believe they were unrelated.

A couple of months ago there was a shooting in Desmond Street and now there’s one here,” One visibly upset neighbour said. “We have children what around here.”

“There is a problem, the authorities should fix this.”

Police are going to give more details after some time so will update it later on !
