The nominations in support of the 83rd Academy Awards were announced these days. The King’s Speech led with 12 nominations, followed by True Grit with 10 and The Social Network and Inception with eight apiece. Though in attendance were veto terrific surprises amongst this year’s nods, in attendance are a number of exciting first-time nominations, plus Nine Inch Nails leader Trent Reznor in support of his mark in support of The Social Network in collaboration with Atticus Ross, 15-year-old Hailee Steinfeld in support of her breakout behind artiste role in True Grit and John Hawkes in support of his behind performance in Winter’s Bone. There was plus a notable omission: Chris Nolan was not nominated in the Best Director category in support of Inception.
